Over the past three decades, Seatides Combined School has evolved to become a leading educational institution and a centre of educational excellence amongst the public school sector along the north coast. Having opened its doors on the 18th of January 1988, Seatides Combined School has seen scores of young men and women pass through its corridors, who have since made their mark on the world as leading doctors, lawyers, engineers, pharmacists and entrepreneurs, to name but a few.

When it first opened its doors, Seatides Combined School or Tongaat Beach Secondary as it was referred to then, had an enrolment of 374 learners, with 10 classes ranging from Class 1 to Standard 8 (Grade 10). Its first set of matric learners, referred to then as Standard 10, sat for their examination in 1990.

Since then the school has boasted a strong pass rate at Standard 10/Grade 12 level and this consistency has cemented Seatides as a model for academic excellence. The school currently attracts learners from as far north as Kwa-Dukuza and south as Verulam.

Seatides Combined School offers quality public education from the formative Grade R phase up to the National Senior Certificate level (Grade 12). With the NSC results being the crowning glory of the school, concerted efforts are made annually to ensure that Grade 12 results are exemplary. The school is reputed for its 100% pass rate over many years, in addition to being on the leading list of schools with the highest percentage of bachelor passes. In a survey conducted by the Sunday Times, Seatides Combined School was one of the few public schools to feature in the Sunday Times Top 100 schools in the country.
