SOME EXCITING MOMENTS FOR LEARNERS AT SEATIDES COMBINED (2023)
Foundation Phase
Foundation Phase learners enjoyed their Hop n Bop fundraiser with dance, music, lights and treats galore.
Foundation Phase learners and educators hosted the Goldies of our society with a very successful and enjoyable Grandparents Day filled with fun, laughter, spoils, good food and tons of love.
During Literacy Week,the Grade 3 learners shared their favourite stories with buddies from grade 1… Reading Buddies are always appreciated.
Foundation Phase learners were enlightened by a talk from SAPS and Child Care Unit about Child Protection Week.
It was all about smiles and proper dental hygiene in The Foundation Phase with it being Dental Week. Thanks to Colgate and our local tooth fairy, dentist Pooveshnee for an interesting talk and free toothbrushes and toothpaste too.
Our slithering friends joined the learners from Foundation Phase for a very thrilling Reptile party.
Promoting maths in FP with fun games, challenges and much enjoyment.
Celebrating a whole week of Dr Seuss, promoting the love for literacy and reading is our priority.
A Spring Day picnic was enjoyed by all with an integrated literacy programme and a lovely picnic.
Our participants for the Spelling Whiz competition are Taalia Gr 3, Mika Gr 1 and Trevlyn Gr 2.
Literacy International Day was celebrated with a Book Character Day in the Foundation Phase.
Heritage day celebrations took place with promoting our rich cultural diversity. Well done to learners from Grades R to 3 for an enjoyable programme.
A trip to Flag Farm was so much of fun after a whirlwind of a third term.
It was all eyes, ears, giggles and thrills as our Principal chooses to read to our learners at any given time amidst his busy schedule.
It was so much of fun at our recent Fun Walk with all our little ones.

Training sessions for Maths Top 20
Congratulations to Seatides learners on their excellent performance at the Maths Top 20 competition. The competition was tough, and you all have made us proud. Melisha Grade 6 First Tristan Grade 6 Third Tyhira Grade 7 first and Ria Grade 7 fourth 💓👏
Intermediate phase learners were invited to participate in the Independence Day celebration hosted by the Consulate General of India. It was indeed an honor to be part of such a prestigious event.
Mishael Supramunien from Grade 5A, Denae Pillay from Grade 6A, and Melisha Narainsamy from Grade 6B were participants in the prestigious 2023 Spelling Bee. The event occurred on August 7th at the Tongaat Education Centre. Leading up to the competition, these students diligently mastered a vocabulary of 1200 words. Their hard work paid off as they advanced to the second round of the competition. Although they performed admirably, they were unfortunately eliminated at this stage. We proudly congratulate these learners from Seatides Combined School for representing us exceptionally well.
Melisha Narainsamy grade 6, Denae Pillay Grade 6, Mishael Supramunien grade 5 participated in the Spelling bee competition and did exceptionally well. Mishael Supramunian Grade 5, 1st position spelling whizz. Denae Pillay Grade 6 , 1st position spelling whizz.
A successful Spring Day Fun Run/Fun Walk was held on the 15th of September 2023. Learners, teachers and parents enjoyed a fun filled day.
In celebration of Heritage Day, staff and learners donned their traditional clothing and celebrated their heritage at a special assembly in which learners showed off the best aspects of their traditions and culture.
Department of Languages
Essay and Poetry writing was hosted for grade 7 to 11 learners – all entries were of an extremely high standard.
However, the following learners were exceptional – the winners are as follows:

Grade 9 Keshava Govender,
Grade 10 Sienna Moodley and Kayden Govender.

Grade 7 Debating team went through to the quarter finals: Geetika Mothiram, Esabella Bhima, David Kayer and Alexio J. Sammy
Department of Mathematics/Sciences
On the 12th of May, we celebrated international women in Mathematics day. The assembly programme held consisted of speeches and poetry conducted by girls from the intermediate phase and the high school.
The highest achieving girls in mathematics from grade 10 to 12 participated.

Grade 12: Shiara Baldeo and Diya Datharam
Department of Humanities
Arbor week (1st September to 8th September) saw a host of learners engaged with daily speeches and poems. A special assembly was held of Friday (8th September 2023) and was hosted by the Geography Society. Guests that attended the assembly was Miss Earth and Ethekwini Municipality Parks Department District Manager Mr Victor Chetty. Mr Chetty played a large role in the success of the programme having donated several trees and plants courtesy of the Parks Department.
An EMS Quiz was held in which two of our learners excelled in the Pinetown District. Nehali Seebran (Grade 7) placed 2nd and Mpilenhle Gumbi (Grade 9) was placed 1st. Well done to these learners.
The grade 7 EMS learners hosted a successful Market Day for their assessment in which they got to show off their entrepreneurial skills. This was a successful venture which served to inspire our young learners to be future entrepreneurs.
